Northern Norway is facing prospects of rapid development in the energy sector that will provide many new and challenging skilled workplaces. The region is currently not capable of filling these workplaces with locally trained scientific competencies. At present, the jobs and energy education are focused on oil and gas, however the education provides a good basis for developments in the direction of renewable energy. When the bridge between today's energy consumption and renewable energy is built, the industrial environments in the north must also participate.

North Energy aims to be a leading industrial player in oil and gas in Northern Norway and has entered into a technical and strategic working relationship with the University of Tromsø, which is a leader in Norway in science in general and geoscience in particular.

SpunitromsoNorth Energy desires that our employees who work with the discipline of geoscience function in close co-operation with the environment that exists today at the University of Tromsø. The environments complement each other and will in turn reinforce each other. The intent is to strengthen the geology and geophysics environments, with preference to geophysics.

North Energy's main office is located in Alta, and there is a satellite office in Oslo, plus an office has recently been established in Bodø. The establishment of North Energy's office at the new Research Park in Tromsø means that the company now has a presence in the three largest centres of growth in the three northern counties of the country.
