Oil and gas activities on the Norwegian continental shelf have been the driving force in Norway’s economy for more than 40 years, and formed the basis for developing the nation’s welfare state. More than 60 per cent of Norwegian petroleum resources remain beneath the seabed, including 25 per cent waiting to be discovered. That offers huge opportunities for the Norwegian community. Oil and gas will continue to be one of the country’s important economic cornerstones.
